Launched in 2001, Holland Park Highs’ Volleyball Development Program offered students the opportunity to engage in an enriching sports experience. With a focus on participation, teamwork and communication, this performance based program was designed by qualified volleyball coaches to develop and extend students’ volleyball skills.
In 2007, Holland Park improved its development program with the launch of the Holland Park State High School High Performance Volleyball Program. As one of the leading volleyball high schools in Queensland, students selected in the program will be offered

- Team work activities
- Leadership opportunities
- Officiating and match refereeing opportunities

Our Milestones
2001: Volleyball Development Program launched; ranked 30th in Queensland
2002: Ranked in Top 10 in Queensland
2003: Ranked 9th in Queensland for both Junior and Senior teams
2004: Ranked 3rd in Queensland for Juniors

We participate in all QLD State Secondary sports competitions and other key events in our competitive year include:
- Senior Schools Cup – Toowoomba (August)
- Junior Schools Cup – Brisbane (October)
- Australian Schools Cup – Melbourne (December)
Coaching Staff
The High Performance program is lead by Craig Dawson and Richard James, qualified referees and Level 2 accredited coaches, through the Australian Coaching Council. Both have been with the program from the beginning and have achieved enormous success in this short period of time.
Accreditation
Students participating in the program undertake District and Regional refereeing courses and from 2006, level 1 coaching courses have been made available.
Mentoring
Senior members of the Volleyball program mentor and assist Junior teams, providing positive role models both on and off the courts. The interaction and additional guidance provided by our mentors promotes core values of team work and effective communication.
